How to Play Blackjack (Beginner Guide)
Cards are worth their number. J, Q, K are 10. Aces count as 11 or 1 โ whichever helps you. Beat the dealer's hand without going over 21.
Press Hit to draw one more card. Use it when your total is low (under 17). If your total goes above 21, you "bust" and lose the hand immediately.
Press Stand when you're happy with your total (17+ is usually safe). The dealer then draws until reaching 17 or more.
Only available on your first two cards. Your bet is doubled, you get exactly one more card, and then you automatically stand. Best used on totals of 9, 10 or 11.
Get two cards of the same value? Split turns them into two separate hands, each with its own bet. Great for a pair of 8s or aces โ avoid splitting 10s.
A two-card 21 is "Blackjack" โ it pays 3:2 (a $10 bet wins $15) and beats a dealer 21 made with 3+ cards. A tie with the dealer is a "push": your bet is returned.
If the dealer shows an Ace you can buy insurance for half your bet. It pays 2:1 if the dealer has Blackjack. Beginners are usually better off skipping it.
The dealer must keep drawing until reaching at least 17, then must stop. If the dealer busts, every player hand that didn't bust wins โ even a lowly 13!
